Diving at Pemba Island

Pemba Island is a small coral island – a part of Zanzibar Archipelago located to the north of Unguja (Tanzania territory). Pemba Island is considered one of the best dive sites in Tanzania. Waters are rich in marine life. Diving is suitable for both novices and experienced divers.
Location: Indian Ocean, 50km/31mi to the north of Unguja, the largest island of Zanzibar Archipelago What to see: Among colorful soft and hard corals, coral trees and gorgonarias there are plenty of tropical fish – clownfish, sea horses, anglers, scorpionfish, nudibranchs and small cancroids. Divers can also observe mantas, hammerhead sharks, whale sharks, humpback whales during their seasonal migration, dolphins, barracudas, large green turtles and dugongs. Average year temperature ranges between 20-32C/68-89F and near the coast it doesn’t fall below 25C/77F.
