Whale shark
Holbox Island is a little secure island 25km/15mi long and 2km/1mi wide. It has endless sandy beaches covered with numerous shells of various size and shape. The island is located at the north-eastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula 42km/26mi from Cancún. It is separated from the continental part by a small lagoon that attracts hundreds of exotic birds. Divers can enjoy their diving here. During the period from June to September, when the ocean becomes rich in plankton, whale sharks visit this place. Regardless of their size, they are friendly and allow divers come rather close to them.
