Near the Penemu Island there are several dive sites. The most popular of them are Barracuda reef and Clam Wall. The main goal of diving at Barracuda Reef is the searching of barracudas and wobbeng sharks. Not far from the southern part of Penemu there are southern Penemu Pinnacle islands with beautiful soft corals and anemones at low depth. The dive sites are explored via drift diving.

Location: north-west of the large island of Papua

What to see: While descending down the current, divers can find the schools of fusiliers, jackfish, butterflyfish, giant bigeyes, swordfish, spotted sweetlips fish, black snappers, devil firefish, mandarinfish, hermit crabs and pygmy seahorses. There are also gorgonaria gardens, hard corals and schools of green humphead parrotfish.

Currents: 2-3knots

Visibility: 20-30m/66-99ft

Season for diving: All year round, although the most suitable time is from April to December. The water temperature ranges between 26-30C/79-86F.
