Richelieu Rock
Richelieu Rock is one of the best places in the world to observe whale sharks and, of course, one of the best dive sites in Thailand. It is a 50m/164ft high underwater rock surrounded by small coral towers. Richelieu Rock is a part of Surin National Marine Park that is located to the north of the Similan islands only 7km/4mi from Burma border. The Surin Park consists of five granite wooded islands with amazing beaches.

Location: the Andaman Sea, approximately 200km/124mi northwest of Phuket

What to see: Divers can spot here sea horses, rays, morays, lion fish and schools of banner fish. Also some pelagic fish can be met: tunas, barracudas and caranxes.

Season for diving: The best period is from October to May. The average water temperature is 28C/82F
