Tarpon Caves / Belize


Tarpon Caves dive site is located in the southern part of Half-Moon Caye. Divers can find here rather interesting relief: sliced walls of the reef open access to various cracks, caves and tunnels. The tunnel that starts at 12m/39ft and runs down to 29m/95ft depth attracts attention most of all. The walls of the reef are decorated with yellow sponges and black coral trees.

Location: north-west of the Caribbean Sea, southern part of Half-Moon Caye

What to see: On sandy areas there are sea eels, parrotfish, stingrays and wrasses, while in secure places tarpons and groupers can be spotted.

Visibility: 20-50m/66-164ft

Season for diving: All year round, although the most comfortable period is from December to April and also in August. The average water temperature in summer is 30C/85F and in winter – 26C/79F.
