Chumphon Pinnacles / Thailand

Chumphon Pinnacles is a rock that is located 11km/6mi north-west of Ko Tao island and is one of the best dive sites in the region. The rock consists of one large peak and several smaller ones that rise from 35-15m/114-49ft depth. There is also a large underwater plateau with various corals and many underwater species.

Location: western part of the Gulf of Thailand, to the north-west of Ko Tao island

What to see: Lots of corals, sea horses, sponges, pelagic fish, grey reef sharks and bull sharks. There is also a good chance to see whale sharks from March to August.

Season for diving: All year round, but the best period is from February to September. The average water temperature is 28C/82F
