El Don Quico / Dominican Republic


El Don Quico was purposely sunken to create an artificial reef at 28m/91ft depth. However, because of the currents the vessel sunk at 58m/190ft, that’s why only technical dives can be possible. Large fish and sharks can be met here. The wreck’s coordinates are 18°25’41 .28 N / 69°41’5 .46 W.

Location: near Santo Domingo, La Caleta, underwater national park

What to see: various corals groupers, stingrays, jacks, snappers, sharks etc.

Depth: 28-58m/91-190ft

Currents: 1 knot

Visibility: 10-30m/32-98ft

Season for diving: The best months are June to September. The average water temperature is about 25-28C/77-82F.
