Liberty is 120m/393ft long American cargo vessel that was built in 1918 and sunk during WWII in 1942. The reason of the accident was a torpedo launched by the Japanese submarine. The damage let the team get to the shore, although it was sunken about 40m/131ft from the coast.
Now this underwater giant is considered one of the safest wrecks for diving in the world. It is located in parallel to the beach at 20-25m/65-82ft depth and it can be seen from the surface of the water. Divers can discern the shapes of the vessel, which frame was broken during the eruption of the Gunung Agung volcano in 1963.
For the past decades the Liberty Wreck has transformed into a picturesque artificial reef, where various ocean fish and coral garden dwellers can de seen. This place is very popular among the photographers and night diving fans.

Location: to thenortheast of Bali Island

What to see: Among various fish that inhabit the reef there are morays, shrimps, lutjanuses, rays and wrasses.

Depth: 5-30m/16-98ft

Currents: 1-2knots

Visibility: 10-35m/32-114ft

Season for diving: The best period is between May and November. The water temperature ranges between 24-29C/75-84F.
